GPC — Status Display Requirement

Effective January 1, 2026Reviewed January 2026

Audited by Privisy — The Privisy scanner actively tests for compliance with this requirement.

What it requires

When an opt-out preference signal is active, the business must display on its website whether it has processed the signal as a valid opt-out request. The business may satisfy this by displaying a message such as "Opt-Out Request Honored" or by showing the consumer's opt-out status via a toggle or radio button.

Legal text (excerpt)

A business must display whether it has processed the consumer's opt-out preference signal as a valid request to opt-out of sale/sharing on its website. For example, the business may display on its website 'Opt-Out Request Honored' when a browser, device, or consumer using an opt-out preference signal visits the website, and display through a toggle or radio button that the consumer has opted out.
