What it requires

Subdivision (p) defines a financial incentive as any program, benefit, or other offering, payments to consumers included, given in exchange for the collection, retention, sale, or sharing of personal information, and it counts price or service differences as financial incentives too. A loyalty program, a rewards scheme, or a discount offered for an email address can therefore fall inside the definition, and a business that offers one owes the Notice of Financial Incentive in § 7016.
